'Music has influenced my photography as much as landscape and culture have, and none more so than the post-punk band Wire. Returning to my native island of Skye, through the eye of a lens you learn to appreciate the distances and the space between land, sea and sky. I quote music writer Jon Savage –‘[The album] 154 describes the distances and possibilities of post-modernism: the psychic distances thrown up by travel’. I have titled this exhibition ‘On Returning’ after one of the tracks on the album.' - Alastair
