When We Were Young: Photographs of Childhood from the National Galleries of Scotland

Scottish National Portrait Gallery

14 Oct - 29 Apr

The second in a series of thematic photography exhibitions, this display documents the experience and representation of childhood to coincide with Scotland’s Year of the Young Person 2018. Using photographs from the permanent collection of the National Galleries of Scotland, When We Were Young explores not only how the experience of childhood has changed over the years, but also how the portrayal of children has shifted too. Featuring daguerreotypes from the 1840s to digital prints from 2017, the exhibition is sure to delight visitors young and old.
