May's event is curated by Alice Gordon and John McDougall and will see Aileen Campbell (City of Glasgow College), Gillian Gilbert, and Nina Bacos discuss paradigms for emerging and existing female practitioners. It takes a point of departure in Six Foot Gallery’s exhibition A Glass Expanse, which features 10 emerging female photographers responding to a self portraiture brief which aims to open a discussion about what role gender plays for exiting and emerging female artists. It will question if a new understanding is required of how women are organising themselves and what role feminism can or does play in this context.
The event has been made possible with the help of Creative Scotland and Finnish FRAME and is one in a series to create sustainable productive relationships & exchanges between the Nordic and the Scottish scene.
